Is Ford positioning themselves to be British? Aston grille on the cars, and their Explorer looks like a Rover. It’s a good looking vehicle, but damn, really?

I would say the new Range Rover did its best Explorer impression first.

Ford has really stepped up in the last few years. All the new fords I’ve driven as rentals have been good, I really liked the Explorer Sport, even though I usually hate SUVs.

Ford just likes to call Land Rover late at night and hang up. “I ain’t missin’ you at all!”

They’re better than they used to be for sure. Though the first gen explorer really wasn’t too awful either, but then again I only paid $100 for the one I had.

Something so weird about seeing LED running lights on a reflector dish / halogen headlight.

The current gen Ranger sells well over here as a commercial vehicle, so it wouldn’t surprise me if Ford were targeting Western Europe with their design aesthetic. The Transit has been a mainstay for years, but for pickups most people choose between the Hilux, L200 or Navara. Isuzu, Ford and Great Wall want a piece of that pie and I guess Ford wants to compete on desirability as well as utility.

Oh, Ford are missing them. They sold Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata for £1.15bn/$2.3bn (about half of what they originally paid) in 2008. Tata are now making in excess of that annually from their investment...

THANK YOU....that is also the first thing I think when I see them!!! “Land Rover”
They look nice, but it’s like Ford didn’t even try and give them any style of their own!

I see a 2010 Forester all pumped up.
